My mum would love that! On day, she called me downstairs because she couldn't operate the DVD player. I went down and realized that she was simply hodling the remote backwards and was sending instructions to the lamp behind the sofa instead of the machine...
An now combine the two: make it switch both devices on and off and put volume beside channel. Done.
