While i wish i could incorporate every project on S|G into my personal space, i have to keep my nerdy fascination for storage at bay... making an effort to avoid being one of those people with boxes of boxes, inside bigger boxes... i can hear it now "Hey Laurence, do you have any boxes?" "Sure do, they are in my special box room"... nobody wants to be that girl.

I moved into my a new space last october, and there are a couple little projects i thought you might get a kick out of. Enjoy

Where have i been? I have no excuse for leaving y'all in a storage famine. I can say that there are great things on the horizon for S|G, so if you aren't feeling too neglected, stick around and chime in!

Most who go for beach-side walks revel in their beauty and calm... NOT ME... i go about unashamedly looking for repurpose-able treasures - ignoring any accompanying friends knowing, that something terrific is waiting just behind the next rock.

This is clearly an inherited trait from my driftwood-collecting father whose findings decorate my family home... but decor isn't enough... function is where I find beauty.

During a wonderful mini-break to Montario Point, a beachside cottage spot on the US bank of our shared Lake Ontario, I appropriated two keepsakes that i've repurposed: a jewelry holder and a driftwood shelf (see below).

What I store in my 6x3x1.5 inch kit that accompanies me most places i go.

Hair: clips, bobby pins

Face: concealer, lip-balm, blush/lipstick, eyeliner, mascara, extra earrings

Body: hand cream, perfume, OBs, anti-bacterial gel, nail polish remover towelettes,

Teeth: floss, brush, toothpaste

Just-in-case: Band-Aids, tylenol, vitamins, melatonin, Tide-To-Go, mints, pens, tab-towels, USB stick, safety pins, pen.

I like to put things away.

Not in an ironed jeans, Polaroids-on-shoeboxes, indexed or compulsive way, but I like my space to be just right. If that happens to be more on the chaotic side, so be it, but if I'm in the mood for tidy, I've got that option too.

I get a kick out of finding the best and most efficient way to store things (nerd alert!) but not at the cost of aesthetics. Label-makers and clear plastic boxes need not apply!

This is a collection of ideas for those who love to stow, and benevolent options for those that don't. Enjoy!
