Frilly Ikea Hack

A staple of the 'just-moved-out-of-my-parents-house-and-got-all-my-stuff-from-ikea' set, these mini-drawers get a makeover with vintage wall-paper.

Baking Tray

Not a bad idea to keep all your baking stuff together on one tray; ready to pull out for spontaneous baking occasions, and avoids unnecessary riffling.

WTF? Banana Guard?

On the off-chance people haven't noticed, the banana already comes with its own 'eco-friendly' packaging. I'd much rather a bruised banana, than the strange looks from people as they see me with my $10.00 Banana Guard.

In other banana-related news: you've been peeling it wrong your whole life.

Lunch Skins

So you've finally got in the habit of bringing your reusable bags when you go grocery shopping (or at the very least you feel horribly ashamed and guilty if you forget them) ... but what about the other plastic in your life? What about those silly Ziplock bags that don't really have a viable eco-alternative?

Introducing Lunch Skins by 3greenmoms! Moisture and grease-proof, these Ziplock replacements are even dishwasher friendly. Great idea and cute patterns to boot.

NYTimes Real Estate Section.... I love you

Anyone else obsessed with the 'Great Homes' slideshows on the NYTimes website?

Well, if not, you should be. It will make you feel somewhat inadequate, because most of us haven't yet restored a 400 year old russian chateau, but it is great eye candy.

This little guestbed/nook and the collection of mirrors is my kind of thing.

Thanks Heather!

S | G reader Heather sent me so many ideas i thought it appropriate to dedicate a day to her collection of links. Enjoy.

The Gispen Globus

Not much to say here; it's a desk, a chair..... and then... it's not.

Closet Alternative

Charming idea found in the Carroll Garden-based 'Store 518'.

Oh, why can't Brooklyn be just a wee bit closer to Toronto?

For the short of space

Part of me loves the efficiency of this combination ironing board/mirror, the other gets an unsettling Home Shopping Network/ As-Seen-on-TV vibe about it.

No official conclusions yet.

Coyly Reused

Be the most authentic nerd on your street with this recycled NES controller: Doesn't seem to fit much, but who cares! When you whip it out, people will bow down with hipster envy.

Bagel Specific

The positive person inside of me says:
'Cute idea for bagel-only lunch container'

Then the cynic chimes in:
'Let's just hope the toxins they sprayed to protect the cds don't leach into the food'

... i suggest washing it before use.....

*Thanks for the tip Megs

Biased Review - Aveda Environmental Compact

I have this product, and it is a storage winner, so i thought i'd share.

Aveda makes this modular, magnetic compact that keeps all your 'face-stuff' in one place. You just pick what you need and pop it in; creating your own pallet and halving your make-up bag. Hear that? It's the sound of Efficiency Nymphs the world over dancing with delight.

The good news is that Aveda isn't the only one to sell make-up that works with this system, i've had success with Annabelle, Rimmel and Maybeline... just make sure that the products are magnetic.

Ok, enough free advertising....

Recycling Stations

This might be one of the few examples of pegboard use that doesn't make me cringe.

Obvi.

Old jams jars as desk organization. Obvious, but good to be reminded. Puts all those plastic ones from Business Depot to shame.

Bedside Perfection

Another winner by Nils Holger Moormann; the 'Liesmichl' bedside table is great for those, such as myself, who tend to start several books at once. With a page-saver and a spot for your water glass, this is pretty close to perfect.

Float Your Books

'Conceal' bookshelf by Umbra allows you to stack your own books for that often-desired
magic-y, float-y, half interesting, half pointless, neat-o look.

SansSource Day No.2

Apologies for the lack of post yesterday; it was moving day for me. To compensate for my absence i am instating another idea-packed SansSource Day.

Enjoy.
