One can never have enough wooden boxes. Fact.

Scarves As Curtains

Remember those old scarves you bought at the vintage store/flea market/ renaissance fair that you thought would really up your style game, but only evoked strange glances from your friends?

Well, if you've finally given up hope, the nicer ones might make for cute curtains if hung together.

Ugly Shoes Need Not Apply

Loving this pantry/dish cabinet as shoe storage; really raises the bar. It also helps if you have anything like the jealousy-inducing footwear presented here.

Pill Box Progress

Why are pill boxes so ugly?

In a quick attempt to rid my parent's dining room table of those unsightly pastel-hued boxes, I whipped up a moderately improved version. Admittedly this isn't perfect (i could have worked harder to achieve a less goppy result with the glass paint) but it's at least one step up on the aesthetics ladder.

Happy Thanksgiving

Quick post today before i head home for the Canadian version of this holiday... very much looking forward to family time, crisp fall walks, and general cozy time.

I was desperately trying to find a relevant post, but there isn't really Thanksgiving-specific storage... that is... except leftovers of course. This idea (by the infallible Martha) would be a nice way to send your guests home with the extra Tofurkey and greenbeans.

Happy Thanksgiving and have a great (last) long-weekend.

When Drying Racks Are Almost Too Cool

Seriously, how fantastic is this drying rack? So fantastic right? On a scale of fantastic drying racks this has to be at the top. Just look at how slick that little storage box is.

Life must be so different when you have a Wallfix by Brabantia. You must wake up every morning singing...."i love to hang my clothes".... and drawing big hearts on your calendar for laundry days.

Baskets on Repeat

I'm always sensitive to the 'try hard' feeling evoked by multiplying an object in your home, but these baskets as clothing/linen storage seem rustic enough to evade this problem.

Charcoal Coat Rack?

Gather branches.
Paint.
Bind.
Hang Coat (after paint has dried).

I think this is an idea i might actually try, but perhaps in a cheerier colour.

Clothes in the Loo?

I imagine if you are pressed for space this would work, but while this looks nice, there's something about keeping clothes in the bathroom that irks me.... the post-shower steam + sweater combo is particularly disturbing.

Moderately cute craft idea for the cottage (or any other place where your decorating standards are lowered)

Good Idea... poorly executed

This is case-and-point why people don't do crafts... they'll spend hours prepping and assembling a project only to discover they've created something others will assume they bought, with pity, from a blind person at the local market.

Criticisms aside, this would be a nice project to do with your kiddies. Perhaps if you pay special attention to the graphics/colours of your magazines clippings, the result won't evoke sympathetic compliments from your house guests.

To keep those pesky wires from ruining your 'look' try the Cable Zipper, or get some report bindings from your local Staples and go crazy.

Jess' Amazing Find

So what's a girl to do when her teeny tiny (but charming) room has no closet?

Well if you're Jess, you start brainstorming all sorts of possibilities in frustration (with my over-excited self by her side) ... branches? curtains? drying
racks?... ikea? dwr? pottery barn?

Then it happens.... the perfect Craigslist find: antique apple picking ladders.

Beautifully repurposed as clothing racks, Jess uses both sides of the ladder to hang her clothes, creating what can only be described as a retail/bedroom hybrid.

A perfect solution to her storage issue.

As a result, this struck my fancy.
